- The learning objective of this course is to educate the reader on what a Domestic Violence is, recognize types of abusive behavior, how domestic violence may be learned, why some victims remain in abusive relationships and discuss the dynamics of abusive relationships.
- This course will also inform the reader on the way to explore the risk factors associated with domestic violence and the use of alcohol and other drugs. The reader will be able to learn how to examine and become familiar with screening instruments and assessment techniques for identifying domestic violence.
- After completing this course, the reader will be able to describe the dynamics of a violent relationship and the relevance of factors like family history of violence, substance abuse, and medical or mental health issues to determine the likelihood of continuing violence. This course will identify some of the myths surrounding domestic violence
